Some years have past since the initial concept of the Creamery Square Development. During the intervening years, Tatamagouche can
be justifiably proud of the thriving Farmers’ Market and the award winning Heritage Centre. Now it is the turn of the Creamery Square
Centre for the Arts. The name has changed from Performing Arts Centre to acknowledge the wider aspect of the possible demand - music,
drama, dance and visual arts. The Centre for the Arts will be a state of the art venue for conferences, rehearsals, meetings,
receptions, parties, festivals, displays and special events.
The Ice House, which once stored the ice for the Creamery, has been moved
and will become the foyer for the Centre for the Arts. Its former footprint has been decked over and anyone who has visited the Square
will appreciate the Waugh’s River from that new deck. A stunning view of the river is also visible between the Ice house
and the Shed building. Lovely places to relax during an intermission on a summer night, or during a meeting……or just to
enjoy a picnic.
September 29th, 7pm at the Tatamagouche Farmers’ Market, there is a public meeting, an opportunity to discuss,
debate, make suggestions and generally help the Creamery Square Association to create a working vision for the future of the
Creamery Square Centre for the Arts. Discussion will include design, the acoustics, lighting, funding, sustainability,
management, programming, events……
So make a date for the 29th, express your ideas and concerns, and really become involved with this
exciting next phase of Creamery Square.
The Youth of Tatamagouche and the Northumberland Shore have a chance to express their views
earlier in the afternoon at 4pm in the Tatamagouche Farmers’ Market, on the 29th September.
How can the Centre for the Arts
work for you? Do you want to perform on stage? Work stage lights? Produce a play? Make the effort to find out more, and become
involved . The Creamery Square Association is always looking for volunteer assistance. If you are interested, please contact president@creamerysquare.ca
